Disney Muffin Tin Countdown
Every Disney trip I try and come up with a fun countdown. I had an idea to do a sort of advent calendar but as a Disney countdown. I saw where people made an advent calendar using a muffin tin, so I decided to make something similar for Disney.
I bought the cheapest 24 muffin tin I could find at Walmart.
I came up with 24 activities/gifts/movies. I listed each date on a piece of paper and did pre-plan some things. For instance, with Thanksgiving day, I knew it would be too hard to watch a movie or do an activity, so I knew that we would have to do a gift that day. We did a couple of crafts/activities, 6 total "happys" and we filled the rest with movies. One happy was approximately $5 for both Brad and me. Melody's large happy was a little more because it had a lot of small things in it. We exchanged those the day before our trip. The other 5 happies ranged in price from $2-$5. Brad was in charge of 3 and I was in charge of 2. I bought all of Melody's.
I cut up printer paper and wrote each activity down.
I grouped them, then I placed the decided ones in their respective slots. The rest were randomly placed in slots.
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut circles large enough to fit each tin. Then I also designed Mickey parts that I cut and sketched the numbers on. I did the Mickey head, the Mickey glove, Mickey pants, and Mickey shoes.
I taped the Mickey parts onto each circle.
Then I taped the circles onto the muffin tin.
I displayed it on a plate stand, and each morning I would remove the number for that day and reveal our plans. I must admit, some days we were not 100% successful at completing our "task" but we did try. And it gave us something to look forward to each day before Disney!
