July 4th
This year we decided to keep July 4th low-key. We are in the process of selling our house, and we wanted to spend one last year celebrating in our neighborhood. It also gave us a nice break at home before the chaos of moving begins.
We started the day with a yummy breakfast courtesy of BOGOs at Publix. We had cheese danish and powdered donuts. Not diet friendly, but super easy considering all the cooking we had planned!
After breakfast we went outside and played in the water before it got too hot. Melody enjoyed her water table, and we did some splashing on splash pad I bought on clearance last summer. I am happy she actually likes the water toys this year. She hated them last year because the water was too cold.
Brad got the smoker ready for our dinner!
Then it was time for lunch. I cut up some cheese that was BOGO, and Brad grilled some beef sausage that was also BOGO. We had some crackers to go along with it. I had some leftover turkey sausage I needed to use, so I made some turkey sausage balls too.
Melody had graham crackers, apples, and peanut butter.
The full spread…
We spent the afternoon relaxing while our dinner cooked. I tried this margarita. I really wanted one, but I didn’t want to buy the stuff to make one myself. This was pretty good, but nothing out of this world.
And after naps and laziness, we had dinner! Brad smoked ribs.
Then he grilled corn and potatoes. [By the way, grilled potatoes are the best!]
We took a few pictures…
Then we made dessert! Homemade ice cream and smores!
And we all ended the night with matching socks!
Unfortunately fireworks were postponed due to rain, but they did have them the following night!
