Crabs on the Beach

One of my favorites spots that we had dinner while in Pensacola in February was Crabs on the Beach. It was literally right next door to our hotel so we walked over (perfect when you have been in the car over 5 hours with a 3 year old!). It late and dark, but I saw a sign for a play area but we didn't get to see it. But I am sure that is great during the busier times when you are waiting to be seated. The atmosphere was nice and they offered both inside and outside seating which is great.

We had a great waiter, and he made a lot of great recommendations. They also offer a lot of specials, so be sure and look for those! We were able to order $5 margaritas on this day! You can google them and find their menu, so I won’t bore you with that. But to start with, they bring you these delicious honey buns. I have to be honest…it sounded really weird at a seafood place and for it to be the “free bread”, but they are amazing! They are like fried donuts covered in cinnamon and sugar and served with honey to dip in. We easily (and quickly) devoured them!

My dad ordered the fried shrimp with fries and coleslaw. He really seemed to enjoy it and really liked the slaw too.

I ordered the red snapper blackened with the lemon beurre blanc sauce. It came with red skinned potatoes, asparagus, and a stuffed crab. It was a lot more food than I expected when I ordered it. Our waiter actually recommended the snapper. I was going to get the grouper because I knew it, but he suggested the snapper and it was probably one of my favorites fish dishes I have had. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a great bonus. I did still use lemon on it too. The potatoes and asparagus were nothing spectacular but they were still good. As was the stuffed crab. I would definitely order this again!

My mom ordered the shrimp boil and it looked amazing! I tried a few things, and all of it was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I have to be honest. With it being pretty empty when we arrived, I was unsure of the quality of the food, but it was all so amazing!

Last was Melody. She had the chicken tenders and fries but only ate the fries. Her drink did come in a cute sand bucket cup that also had a shovel.

This was my favorite of all the places we tried that week. And I really can’t wait to go back! It was so good, I even submitted my review card which I never do, ha! I highly recommend it.
