Projects are never ending in our house. We literally finish one thing to start another. Most of the time we are planning our next project while working on the current one. Well our most recent completed project was Melody’s bathroom. It was actually our quickest and easiest project. It didn’t require a whole lot of work, so that helped. And we let Melody get super involved which she loved. It also ended up being the most Melody bathroom there is, ha.

In typical fashion lately, I forgot to take any “good” before pictures. So we have these two. The first picture is from our first night in the house. Since then we did add a shower curtain and rug though. The second one shows you how her mirror was hanging on…duct tape.

We learned from our previous house to never pick a paint color based on paper samples alone. We picked many paper samples, and we narrowed it to three. We did let Melody pick one of those three. We then got real paint samples of those three, and then narrowed it down to our final color. Ironically it was the color we both very much disliked from the paper samples, but it was Melody’s favorite. It actually looked good once painted.

Brad did have to do a bit of patch work, but I literally finished her bathroom in a weekend. I started it Thursday night, and it was ready by Sunday morning. That included Easter travel too! We kept some of the things we already had: pink shower curtain, mermaid picture and flowers above the toilet, her step stool, and her toothbrush holder, soap dispenser and garbage can. We also removed the old towel rack and added her octopus hook from the previous house. I then took Melody to Target, and I let her pick out new hand towels and rug. Of course she wanted all the rainbow. We bought the mirror from Kirkland’s. I wanted something girly but nice enough to keep if she ever decides to move her room upstairs.

I really love how pretty it turned out. All the purple and rainbow really scream Melody. And I am glad we let her pick everything out and make it her own! She loves it!
