Traveling Home from Disney World

No one ever wants to see their trip come to an end. We had some bigger plans for the day, but we opted to take it easy instead. Brad feeling super sick also didn’t help…

So we went back and forth on our food plans for our last day. I had a breakfast reservation at Cape May and a lunch reservation at multiple places overtime at Disney Springs. But after the last few days, we decided we wanted to simply sleep in. I didn’t want us to feel like we had to rush the morning, get to Disney Springs, and rush back for the Magical Express. So we cancelled our plans, and we slept in. We discussed just meeting up at 11 at check out time.

So the day before, Brad was starting to not feel super amazing. We assumed he caught whatever it was Melody had the weekend prior. His throat was getting sore, and he started feeling bad, but we didn’t expect it to really get any worse than Melody (and she didn’t get too bad; she was more tired than anything and had a cough). Well he woke up on Thursday feeling absolutely awful. He was exhausted, coughing (some), congested, and had a fairly sore throat. So we loaded him with medicine and prayed we could get home.

So we slept in, then packed up and headed out around 11 am. We met up with my parents near the food court and went ahead and ordered lunch. We tried to take our name knowing we had a lot of it to kill. We ended up deciding to take Melody to the playground to pass the rest of our time. We made many bathroom trips in the hour or so we were at the playground. Brad rested, and we simply let Melody play until around 1:30 when we decided to get a last minute snack and rest in the a/c before heading to the bus stop.

We headed to the airport around 2 pm. I got Starbucks, and we just sat around the airport for about 2 hours until it was time to board. Brad rested and loaded up on more meds while somewhat silently trying to determine what we would do if he had a temperature and couldn’t get on the plane.

But by a miracle, he was able to board, and we were all able to get home. It was a nearly full flight. Melody sat with my parents again, which was good for Brad because he tried to rest as much as possible. We made it home early giving my dad plenty of time to get to work. Brad immediately went to the car and rested while my mom and I got our bags. Then I dropped Brad off at urgent care before getting my mom to her car. We still aren’t entirely sure what Brad had. The doctor treated him for strep, but he tested negative for it, and the medicine didn’t help. But luckily no one else got sick, and we all made it home. There is no way if we had spent that day at Disney that he would have went to the parks though. So that turned out to be a blessing.
