EveryPlate

EveryPlate

Back in August, a friend of mine introduced me to EveryPlate. You may remember last year I tried Green Chef. I loved the idea and concept, but the cost was not worth it, the produce was inconsistently bad, and the food itself was too flavorful. Normally flavor is good, but it was sometimes not the best. However, the friend of my was introduced to EveryPlate and raved about it. The cost was reasonable, the produce and meat were always good, the delivery days were great and reliable, and the taste was great.

Let’s first discuss the delivery. You are able to pick your delivery day from every day (except Sunday, I believe). I picked Saturday. I did this so that we could have our first meal on Sunday night. My meals are delivered via FedEx and (knock on wood) have yet to be late. The boxes are not always in the most perfect shape upon arrival, but the food has always been cold and good. A big difference between Green Chef and EveryPlate is how your food is packaged. All the meat is on the bottom between ice packs. That part is the same. But your produce is just in a box on top of the ice packs. They are not separated by meals like Green Chef has them. Honestly this is not an issue for me. I just always go through the ingredients as soon as I get them and separate them myself. I am sure this is one way they keep cost lower. The recipe cards are found on top as soon as you open the box. Therefore they are in good condition.

So let’s talk about the cost. The cost is much more reasonable in my opinion. My first box cost me $9.99. I had a coupon from my friend for one free box. Now this is NOT the best deal. But I was unsure if I would like this delivery kit, so I went with the cheapest upfront deal. In order to get the most of the β€œfree box”, I ordered 5 meals the first time around. Normally 5 meals for 2 people would cost only $62.89 if you did not make any changes to it. I did make some changes to my first box (I sometimes change the protein from pork to chicken or vegetables around). This is a slight upcharge. So my first box on August 20th cost be $9.99 shipping plus $3.20 in premium upcharges. Below have been the cost of my boxes since then. On a few boxes I had deals, and I noted that. I also always do two servings per meal.

  • 8/27 - $47.92 for 4 meals (discounted to $3.99/serving)

  • 9/10 - $40.51 for 3 meals (discounted to $3.99/serving)

  • 9/17 - $40.51 for 3 meals plus $2.14 in premium charges (discounted to $3.99/serving)

  • 9/24 - $40.53 for 3 meals plus $1.06 in premium charges (discounted to $3.99/serving & I got a premium upgrade for free)

This week I am starting the week without any discounts. For 3 meals for 2 people it was only $48.16. They also have rewards when you order so many boxes. The rewards so far have been a single premium upgrade worth $9.99. I have not done a full premium meal until I had the free upgrade.

Now let’s talk about the food itself. So far we have only had a couple of β€œbad” meals. These meals were ok, but I would not order again. And I have never had any missing ingredients. I did have bad potatoes one time, but they gave me a credit towards a future meal. Other than that, the food has been really good. I will list the recipes we have had so far and my ratings out of 4 stars. I have included pictures of all the meals below.

  • Broccoli Cheddar Bisque with Garlic Bread - 4 stars, this has been one of my favorites and I will order it every time it is offered.

  • Crispy Caesar Chicken with Asparagus and Garlic Mashed Potatoes - 3 stars

  • Cajun Chicken Sausage Penne - 1 star, Brad liked this ok, but I hated the sausage itself

  • Beef and Green Pepper Tacos - 3 stars

  • Monty Jack Burgers with Potato Wedges - 4 stars, this is another I would order again if I see it offered.

  • Creamy Dijon Chicken with Zucchini and Herby Potatoes - 3 stars

  • Smoky Chicken Flautas - 4 stars, I loved the chicken instead of beef here and would order again

  • Gravy Lover’s Meatballs with Green Beans and Garlic Mashed Potatoes - 4 stars, I would only order this again if Brad was home to eat it. If he is traveling, I would pass

  • Sweet Ginger Chicken Stir Fry Bowls - 3 stars

  • Roasted Bell Pepper Flatbreads - 4 stars, a favorite

  • Cheesy Chicken and Pepper Quesadillas - 4 stars, a favorite, I plan to recreate this at home

  • Hibachi Style Chicken Stir Fry (not pictured) - 4 stars, a favorite

  • Tuscan Herbed Chicken over Creamy Tomato Linguine - 4 stars, I loved the chicken, and I would love to try it without the pasta

  • Super Smashed Burgers - 4 stars, easily a favorite and we would repeat

  • Herby Chicken in Tomato Cream Sauce with Zucchini and Lemon Couscous - 4 stars, I would love to do this again, but I did not love the couscous

  • Spicy Shrimp Rice Bowls with Cucumber Salad - 4 stars, this was a free premium upgraded dish. And it was probably my favorite dish so far.

  • BBQ Chicken with Cheddar Potatoes and Zucchini - 1 star, the BBQ sauce was not great, and the potatoes and zucchini were awful too.

  • Creamy Lemon Herb Chicken with Green Beans and Sweet Potatoes - 4 stars, I would love to replace the sweet potatoes with regular however

I am planning to continue EveryPlate for the near future. Most meals have been great, the price is great, and they are reliable. The prep and cook time isn’t always what they say, so I plan accordingly and try to prep as much on Sunday as possible to make the week easier.
