The Old Mill
During our trip to Pigeon Forge in May/June, we tried to enjoy a new restaurant each evening. We researched most places we went to before the trip. But on our last night, we did a bit of googling and came up with The Old Mill. It is a neat place with multiple eateries and shops. There are two dinner locations. We picked the restaurant vs the cafe.
Our plan when we arrived was to go to the cafe as a back up if the restaurant wait was too long. However, our party of 5 was seated in about 10 minutes after arriving. We were really surprised based on the amount of people and the time approaching 5 pm.
The restaurant felt almost like a Cracker Barrel but much larger. The menu was extensive and included SO much food. Each meal came with a cup of Corn Chowder, corn fritters, house salad, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dessert! Oh my! So letβs break it down.
The corn fritters were nice and crispy. They were basically hushpuppies with corn, however. The corn chowder was amazing. So much so, I went next door to the General Store and bought some mix to bring home and make it myself. It wasnβt quite as good when I made it at home, but still good nonetheless. The house salad was simply that, a salad.
For entrees we each got something different. Brad got the Southern Fried Boneless Pork Chops. It came with two very large pork chops. Brad enjoyed it. I got the Chicken Pot Pie. I do wish the crust would have also been on the bottom as well as the top, but I still enjoyed it. And Melody got the kidβs chicken finger and fries. The fries were great, and she liked the chicken ok.
The main course also came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were good, but the mashed potatoes were divine. So creamy and delicious.
For dessert I got the pecan pie, and Brad got the chocolate cake. The pie wasnβt the best pecan pie I ever had, but it was good. The pecans were just a bit hard and crispy. Brad enjoyed the cake.
I would for sure eat here again if we get the chance. I would like to explore more of the surrounding business too. We just did not have time since it was our last night. I do advise getting there early. Not only for seating but also for parking.
