Christmas 2022

Christmas 2022

How has Christmas already happened, and we are now in 2023?!?!? This year really flew by quickly. And I even felt like the Christmas season happened in the blink of an eye. Brad was off work the entire month, but with Melody still in school, the time passed so quickly. We had a lot of fun this holiday season, and thankfully we stayed out of the ER!

We started off Christmas at Thanksgiving actually. We took pictures of the four girls in their Christmas dress so that my mother in law had a good picture for her Christmas card. We took several that you can see below.

We started December off with Melody playing the handbells at church for Christmas and doing a gingerbread house. The gingerbread house was an utter disaster. Luckily Target refunded my money! We could not get the walls to attach no matter what we did.

We never bought an ornament at Dollywood, so I decided to order our yearly one from Etsy. I found a cute shop that made Fastpass ornaments. So I had one made of the very first ride Melody rode at Disney World along with the date and time we rode it.

The last two weeks of school were filled with dress up days for the holidays. Below is the ugly Christmas sweater Melody and I made. Then she had her Christmas party at school that I helped with. It was Snow Fun!

We got to celebrate Christmas with my mom’s extended family the weekend before Christmas at her house. We played “Dirty Santa” and other fun games.

During the early portion of Melody’s Christmas break, we did a different gingerbread house. This one was prebuilt from Walmart. It went much better.

We spent two nights in Memphis with my husband’s family. It even snowed (eventually turning to ice). The kids enjoyed a brief moment of running in it. All of the girls had so much fun spending time together and opening gifts.

After making the icy drive home, we were able to celebrate a normal Christmas Eve at home. Melody’s Elf gave her permission to carry her around for the day. Melody opened gifts a friend got her. And she made sugar cookies and decorated both those and gingerbread men. We had our filets, then took pictures in our matching pjs. After we were all clean and in pjs, we got in the car and drove around looking at Christmas lights. Then we came back home to read The Night Before Christmas. She left cookies and milk, reindeer food, and said goodbye to her Elf, Unicorn.

And then it was Christmas morning, and Santa came! Melody asked for restaurant and teacher stuff, and that is what he brought. She is on a powdered donut kick, so I made her those with bacon and m&ms to make a snowman. Brad and I had waffles. Then we unwrapped gifts and enjoyed the morning playing and resting.

That afternoon, my parents came over for Christmas. We cooked and ate, then unwrapped gifts. We had cappuccinos using our new Nespresso and also took family pictures.

Our last celebration was the day after Christmas. Emily and her family came over for snacks, gifts, and board games.

We had such a fun Christmas, but it flew by too fast!
