Cruise Planning

My mom and I go on a cruise at least once a year.  In the past 8 years, I have gone on over 10 or more cruises.  I have been on two cruise lines, went out of three ports, and completed a couple of different itineraries.  Today I am going to discuss my past cruises and some advice on how to book a cruise that is perfect for you.

Tips on Getting Those Hard-to-Find Toys

With Christmastime upon us, many people are in search for many toys for their children.  A lot of those toys are hard-to-find, and today I am going to discuss some of the things we have found to be successful when searching for these kinds of toys.  Of course some of you know we do not have kids yet, but the toys we are in search of are for my husband.  He loves Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Ranger, Transformers, etc.  Pretty much if it is from the 80's and early 90's, he loves it.  We are constantly on the lookout for new and rare toys.

Daddy Diaper Bag

My family and I thought it would be a neat idea to have a Daddy Baby Shower for my cousin’s husband on a family beach trip.  Some of us were going to be unable to attend my cousin’s baby shower, so we decided we could give her our gifts then.  I really wanted to do something more than just a cake for Jon.  So I decided to make him a diaper bag.  I didn’t want to give an actual bag because I wasn’t sure if he’d carry it, and my mom and I bought my cousin a really nice diaper bag.  I had the idea to do a toolbox and provide him with all the “tools” he would need.  It was really easy to make.  Here are the materials I purchased and how I assembled:

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2014 Trip Report

I recently had a work conference in Orlando, and Brad and I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and squeeze in a visit to Disney World.  Luckily there was a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) on my last day of the conference.  This worked out perfectly for us.  Below is some of the information about the party and what we did.

Deviled Eggs

Since The Holidays are upon us, I decided to share some deviled egg recipes.  I actually have two that I am going to share.  The first is a traditional deviled egg recipe.  I got the recipe from The Better Homes cookbook, but made a few changes to make it more like I prefer.  The second is what I call deviled eggs with bacon and onions.  However, Rachael Ray calls them BLT Deviled Eggs.  I found this recipe in her Big Orange Book cookbook.  I left out a few things, so that is why the recipe isn't called the same thing.  But her recipe was my inspiration.

Star Wars Lego Themed Birthday Party

For my husband's 30th birthday, I wanted to do something special.  I decided to throw him a Star Wars Lego themed birthday party.  He loves Star Wars and Legos, and it was an easy theme to find party supplies for.  I primarily used yellow plastic table clothes ($1.00 a piece at Walmart) on all the counters and the cake table.  I purchased one white plastic table cloth for a Hoth scene we had setup from the Star Wars Legos.  Speaking of legos, since we have so many Star Wars Legos, we put them all together and used them as decoration surrounding the food and cake table as well.  An added bonus, Brad's mom brought me some pictures of Brad when he was a kid.  I displayed them throughout the house and used them as extra decorations.

How I Plan a Walt Disney World Trip

I am a huge Disney World fan.  Most people who know me know this.  I have been to Disney World more times than I can count on both hands.   I started going at such a young age that the only memories I have of my trips are from the pictures taken and the stories my parents tell me.  Disney has changed a whole lot over the years.  Technology has been a huge part of this change.  Now with the Fastpass+ system, planning is a key part in having a stress free and fun trip at Disney World.  As recent as my honeymoon in 2013, planning wasn’t super important.  Yes, we decided restaurants and where we would be on what days, but now you have to decide when you want to ride a specific ride 60 days in advance (or 30 days if you are staying off-site).  Prior to this, you could just go to a kiosk and get a fastpass for whichever rides were available.  This made parkhopping easy to use.  Not anymore.  However, I have found some methods that help me plan with this new system.  I have planned two trips with this method, and it has really seemed to make things easier.

Bananas with Caramel

This week's recipe comes from The Biggest Loser's Family Cookbook.  Walmart carries this cookbook as do many other retailers.  I don't use this cookbook enough, but it really does have some great recipes in it.  I am trying to eat healthier, and after dinner one night, I was still slightly hungry.  Instead of over-indulging with chips, ice cream, or chocolate, I fixed my sweet tooth with the Bananas and Caramel recipe.  It is really, really simple and is fairly healthy (although you could swap out the caramel I used for some fat-free or sugar-free kinds).

Welcome to my Blog!

LHi everyone!  My name is Brittany.  I have been married to my husband Brad for about a year and a half now.  We currently live in North Alabama.  I work as a Program Control Analyst for a local company.  When I am not working, I love to cook, do crafts, and more importantly travel!  It would seem like Brad and I are out of town all the time.  Our traveling ranges from day trips to visit family or week long trips to Disney.  I have wanted to start a blog for some time now.
