I thought it might be fun to take a look back on last year through some pictures. Sure, it was one heck of a year, but we made the best of it. We spent a LOT of time together as a family, and we did come out with a lot of great memories, even if they were not the memories we expected to make! Follow along below!

January

  • We visited Memphis for my husband’s grandfather’s 80th birthday

  • We spent sometime outside during the warmer days of the month; we even created a road on our driveway for Melody to drive her 4-wheeler on

  • We celebrated my birthday at TopGolf and at home

  • Melody finally got to hold Dalton, and we managed to get a picture of all three of them smiling

  • Brad traveled; we spent time with my parents; and he returned to a fun sign made by Melody

  • And we spent time at Bridgestreet!

February

  • Melody had her 3 year old pictures made

  • Melody spent a lot of time playing dress up

  • Valentine’s Day fun

  • We spent time outside even in the rain

  • Melody and Dada held a concert

  • Brad went back out of town, so Melody and I spent time with my parents and went to the beach

March

  • Melody had dance pictures made

  • Dada came home!

  • Melody spent time with my while I was working temporarily at the office

  • Melody dressed up as an Engineer for Career Day at school

  • Melody (unknowingly) had her last time at school as a 3 year old

  • The craziness broke out at Costco due to COVID and shutdowns

  • We met our newest niece/cousin, Liza (she was born the day everything shut down!)

  • We started β€œhomeschooling”

  • We baked A LOT

  • We spent a lot of time going on walks

  • We renovated the dining room, built some princess dress up storage, and renovated the playroom

  • We discovered Melody truly had anxiety with food when GoGo Squeez changed their packaging

  • Melody started dance classes virtually

  • I ordered my first Simplified planner to help with homeschooling

  • We spent lots of time FaceTiming friends and family

  • We did lots of crafts

April

  • Melody started playing Animal Crossing using our characters

  • We spent even more time outside going on walks and playing

  • We continued school at home after finding out school was closing for the year

  • We planted flowers

  • We did more crafts (mom and dad included!)

  • We played boardgames

  • I ordered my first yearly Simplified planner and accessories!

  • We painted eggs and celebrated Easter

  • Nannie made Melody a dress

  • I made my first mask

  • We changed our kitchen light fixture

May

  • I bought an air fryer

  • We continued to spend time outside when we could

  • We had kitchen dance parties

  • We cuddled a lot

  • We finally saw both of our parents and Emily’s family

  • We celebrated Mother’s Day

  • We celebrated being married SEVEN years

  • Melody got a new swing set

  • We did a drive by parade for one of Brad’s coworkers who had cancer

  • My parents opened up their pool and we went for a swim

  • Melody turned FOUR and we celebrated with a small party at home. This included a weekend visit with her cousins!

  • We went back to in-person dance class

  • We got to go back to Melody’s preschool and get all of our things (hence the first and β€œlast” day of school pictures)

June

  • We consumed a lot of popsicles

  • Melody got to go to Publix for the first time since COVID happened

  • We got back to spending time with our friends!

  • We had our yearly check up for Melody

  • We went for more walks and spent even more time outside

  • Melody went to a new dentist

  • Melody created her own Animal Crossing character

  • We swam at my parent’s house

  • Melody had her dance recital (in a very COVID friendly way)

  • Freddy’s opened in Madison

  • And we had a birthday party for Melody’s unicorn

July

  • Melody went to dance camp, in person

  • We celebrated the 4th of July and Nana’s birthday

  • Melody started a new chore chart

  • We spent the night with our friends Emily and Lydia

  • We started food play

  • We tried a new (to us) burger place through Door Dash for the first time

  • We swam some more

  • Melody got her first haircut

  • Nannie visited and made Melody another adorable dress

August

  • We celebrated Grandpa’s birthday

  • We visited cousins in Memphis

  • We went back to dance for the fall

  • We went back to school for the fall

  • We found a snake in our backyard

  • We played outside

  • We rented out the movie theater to watch Empire Strikes Back for Brad’s birthday

  • My parents bought a pontoon boat

  • We celebrated Brad’s birthday

  • I got my first Stitch Fix

September

  • Melody started getting more into Animal Crossing by changing the music and flag

  • She really got into Cosmic Kid’s Yoga

  • We continued our walks outside

  • We celebrated Patriotic Day at her preschool

  • Brad got a new office chair, and Melody really wanted it

  • Melody bought some roller skates with her allowance

  • Melody really started getting into her WellieWisher

  • I created a back stock in the extra space in our coat closet

  • I added curtains to our bathroom (and it made such a huge difference with lighting)

  • We repainted and rearranged our guest bedroom

  • The SEC started playing football again

October

  • We went inside a restaurant for the first time, but it was just Arby’s and the dining room was closed, so maybe it doesn’t really count, ha

  • We went to the beach

  • We decorated outside for Halloween

  • We played outside

  • Alabama and Ole Miss played in football

  • Brad and I ate out in public for the first and only time so far.

  • I joined Noom (and my first meal was donuts, ha)

  • We started going through all of Melody’s baby clothes

  • We visited my parents camping in their RV

  • Melody took school pictures (and she smiled!)

  • And of course, Halloween!

November

December

  • Melody built a gingerbread house

  • Melody dressed up in her Christmas tutu for dance

  • We celebrated Christmas with the Owens

  • We made Christmas trees for food play

  • We baked

  • Melody got another haircut (and went shorter)

  • Melody had a slumber party with her cousins in Memphis

  • We celebrated Christmas with Brad’s family

  • We celebrated Christmas with my family

  • We celebrated Christmas in general

  • I saw my grandmother for the first time since COVID started

  • And of course more time outside!
