Since I haven’t posted about my 39th birthday, I figured I would pair it with my 40th birthday when discussing it! So check them out below!
Now that it has been almost one year, I am finally wrapping up all the posts to my Pumpkin Baby Shower that I had for my best friend, Emily. She had her third baby back in November of last year. So we hosted a diapers and wipes shower for her the month before. Seeing that it was fall, and my house was decorated as such, we opted for a pumpkin theme. Today I am sharing all about the invitation I made.
Melody’s wanted her 7th birthday party to be unicorn themed. She had it planned for awhile, and she even knew exactly what she wanted her cake to look like. She apparently watched a video on YouTube Kids where they decorated cakes, and she saw one she wanted. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do this, and my backup was to just use Publix. I knew they had a unicorn cake even if it wasn’t the “right” one. Well I talked with my cousin at Easter, and she apparently was starting a bakery. Melody was telling her all about the cake she wanted, and my cousin said she would love to make it! Her instagram handle is @bluebirdbakeryelkmont if you want to see her work!
For my best friend’s baby shower back in October, we went with a pumpkin theme. It was a perfect theme for a fall baby shower (or event for that matter). When it came to the food, I tried to incorporate pumpkins, orange, and Emily’s favorite foods.
The theme for Melody’s 7th birthday party was unicorns. For some of her birthdays in the past, I would make wooden numbers fit for the theme. Well she got disappointed the first year I missed doing that. So now I can’t forget. I let her completely design it this year. It really made it hard for me to step back and do that, but she really wanted to. She painted it herself, and I simply glued on the unicorn horn. The idea is the back of the seven is the tail. I am not entirely sure you can see it, but that is what she was going for!
Back in May, we celebrated Melody’s 7th birthday. This year she landed on having a unicorn themed birthday party. I didn’t want to just have a re-do of her Rainbow Rangers party which included unicorns. So I decided to take it to a more pastel colored vibe and super girly unicorn stuff! (Wanna look back at all the parties I have done for Melody? Scroll to the very bottom for the links!)
For my best friend’s baby shower, I wanted to come up with a usable and practical guestbook. I had seen it before, and I thought building blocks would be cute. I bought a pack from Hobby Lobby. I made sure they had some blank sides. Then I came up with a cute sign to sit beside it. I had a jar I wrapped some pumpkin ribbon around, and then people could write on them and place them in the jar when finished. I think it was such a cute idea that she could easily display in the baby’s room!
For Melody’s 6th birthday party, I made a LOT of lists to help me keep up with all the things. Lists sometimes are my best friend, and when it comes to planning an event, they are super helpful. My lists vary from what is needed on each table, general decor, what is needed for each item (think invites, favors, etc.), and to do lists. My to do lists are done in two steps. One - I make a general list. Two - I take said list and organize it by ideal date that it needs to be completed. This then gives me a good idea on how I am going to complete all the things.
My best friend’s baby shower was a pumpkin theme since it happened in October. Her favorite cake is red velvet, so I decided to do that since it kind of had the fall look with the colors. I ordered from our favorite bakery, Edgar’s. I wanted a cute cake topper, so I decided to just make one myself. I found a cute font, and incorporated a pumpkin with it. I had orange and gold glitter cardstock that I used to make it with. Then I attached the topper to toothpicks. It wasn’t the most stable topper, but it held up the entire party, and I think it turned out cute!
The theme for my cousin’s bridal shower was “miss to mrs.” Her maid of honor has her own floral shop, and she did the flowers for Ashley’s wedding as well as the ones for her shower. One thing Ashley wanted was a bouquet bar. So her maid of honor made that happen!
My best friends baby shower was a pumpkin themed shower. Since her shower was in October, it was such an easy theme. It was also super easy to decorate for too!
At my cousin’s bridal shower, we did a time capsule as her “guestbook”. The theme for the shower was miss to mrs., so we kept it simple. Her maid of honor brought a large jar to store them in as well as made a sign. Then I made the actual cards for everyone to sign. I included a copy below without a logo if you want to use it yourself. On their first wedding anniversary, they will look at all of them!
Yes, it is January, and I am still posting about Melody’s 6th birthday party from back in May. I am super behind on posting all kinds of content. Such is the season of life I am in! So for Melody’s birthday, we decided to have it somewhere new. We always have it at home, but Melody did not want that. It was probably a good thing since she wanted to invite her entire class. Through another blog, I found a place called Cheerville Party Place. The price is a steal, the location is good, and you can have an unlimited number of guests which is ideal.
When hosting my best friend’s baby shower back in October, the theme was easy…pumpkins! But when it came to favors, I wanted something edible, easy to make, and cute! Well she LOVES candy corn and peanuts, so I thought it would be a fun favor to make!
Let’s talk all about the decor we used at my cousin’s bridal shower back in September. The theme was miss to mrs, and the colors were sage green, dusty rose, gold, and cream. Ashley’s (my cousin) maid of honor is a florist. Well she wasn’t technically one at that time, but she did just open up her own shop local to us. So she did all of the floral arrangements. We kept the decor simple yet chic.
One of the things on my cousin’s dream bridal shower board was a coffee bar. So when I helped host her shower back in September, I knew this was something I could easily do. We already have our own coffee bar, so I just made it more functional for a shower, and I included iced coffee since that is the bride’s favorite!
My best friend, Emily, recently had a new baby. We were able to sneak in a baby shower a few weeks before, however. It was just close family and friends, but it was still special. We opted for a simple diapers and wipes shower. And since it was October, I played off of the pumpkin theme.
To save energy and make life generally easier, I did cupcakes for Melody’s 6th birthday party. She asked for a Doc McStuffins themed party. I did pink and purple cupcakes, but I also decided to add cupcake toppers to make them fit within the theme even more.
For Brad's birthday, we had a G.I. Joe themed birthday. I decided to make shirts for all of us to wear on his birthday. They said GI Mom, GI Dad, and GI Kid. It was a surprise for Brad, so we had to tell him to get dressed for with his eyes closed.
For Brad’s birthday this year, Melody wanted us to do a G.I. Joe themed party. Now this party is just for the 3 of us, but I still go all out. I decided to make a G.I. Joe logo banner to hang between our sconces. It was not too hard using black, white, blue, and red cardstock. I found the font online for free, and simply recreated it!
