So we had about half a bag of shrimp in our freezer that I decided we needed to cook. I wanted to bake it, and I found a super easy recipe online to do that. I used far too much sauce simply because I didn’t have enough shrimp, but it still tasted great and was easy to make.
While shopping at Hobby Lobby for other birthday party supplies, I ran across a sale on unfinished wood. And I found this number 3. I thought it would be a perfect added piece of decor to Melody’s Snow White themed birthday party. With a little paint and ribbon, it truly was.
I decided earlier in the year that I wanted to make iced sugar cookies for Melody’s birthday party this year. They are so expensive to buy, but they make parties so adorable. So I searched and found a recipe that worked perfectly (cookie recipe and icing recipe). It took me quite a few attempts to get the icing perfected, but eventually I produced the perfect consistency for icing cookies.
We have been members at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens for a little over a year now. We have visited every season so far, and we have no attended two paid events there. One of those was this spring, and it was unique. We visited during the day using our normal membership, and then we paid to go again at night. It is the Chinese Lantern Festival. It is a traveling festival that has numerous lanterns that are lit up at night and throughout the Garden. I believe the path is a little over a mile long. Follow along for both of my experiences.
I made these sugar cookies a while back to test out the recipe I found. They cookies themselves turned out delicious. The website also had a icing recipe that I wanted to try. My first attempt was a failure. It was far too runny. But with time I got better. I still have some trouble getting it just the right consistency, but the good thing is you can add a little more milk or powdered sugar to help. Also keep in mind the liquid that will be added from any food coloring you use.
It is so hard to believe preschool has been over for almost ONE month. I was such a nervous wreck when I sent Melody to preschool that very first day. She was so upset, I was upset, oh my! Well it was literally the best year. She ended up LOVING the school, the people, the teachers, everything. She is missing school so much already.
When Melody made the decision to have a Snow White birthday party, I already had the idea to do a Snow White ‘Barbie’ cake. Growing up I had many Barbie cakes at my birthdays and my birthday parties. I talked with my mom to confirm she still had the cake mold. And luckily she DID. So she gave me the mold, and I decided to attempt this cake. I was super nervous about making it, and I could not have made it without my mom for sure!
Melody has finally reached an age where she has an opinion on things. When asked what kind of birthday party she wanted, she asked for a Snow White party. Of course she changed her mind many times, but Snow White is what we always came back to, and then it was too late…I started buying and making things!
Lately we have been making breakfast tacos at least once a week. They are super easy to make, we keep all the ingredients at home, and it doesn’t require any thawing, ha! I make them multiple ways depending on what ingredients we do have. But I do have a basic “recipe” I follow and add things in. Check it out below.
On Saturday our little one turned THREE! How crazy is that?!? I mean I felt like I just had her! So below are all the fun activities that we did throughout her birthday. Now that Dance is over for the Spring, I thought I would share some candid photos I took of her before, during, and after some of her dance classes. She has really learned a lot and had so much fun. This spring, their focus was their recital dance. I will share more about that in a future post, but it was so much fun to see the progress she has made from the very first class until now. We also had dance pictures made during the Spring, so be on the lookout for those and a fun story about the chaos that was part of that! We have only been out of dance a few weeks, but Melody is already asking to go back!
I know, I know, it is the end of May and I am just now finishing up posting about our March Disney trip. Well life has been busy to say the least, ha! But here they all are in one location!
On our Disney trip back in March, we tried Silver Airways for the first time. They recently started having direct daily flight from Huntsville to Orlando. The prices are not always cheaper than Delta (especially since my mom gets free bags on Delta), and it is not cheaper than Southwest, but the direct flight with little travel time to our local airport is hard to beat. We also have a cheaper airline, Frontier, but you have to be willing to fly on their specific days. That didn’t work with our trip, the Delta times didn’t make sense, and the drive to Birmingham to take Southwest wasn’t ideal. So we decide to give Silver a try.
So I love bang bang shrimp, and I love cauliflower. And while I do not like cooked cauliflower, I found that roasting cauliflower isn’t so bad. So I found this recipe online and gave it a try. It is really good, and so good I may try it with chicken or shrimp in the future too!
So we have eaten at Sassagoula before while staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. We recently went back and tried a few new things that I wanted to share below!
Mother’s Day this year was much different than last year. The biggest difference is I got to wake up in my own bed in my own home vs. a hotel due to forced house renovations, ha!
So the entire winter, we went to the Botanical Gardens ONE time! It was too cold and too wet all winter. Or it just wasn’t convenient on the pretty days. We did find a decent day early March to go, so it was barely still winter, ha! Check out all the pictures below.
On our Disney trip back in March, we decided to try Prime Now. It is different than Amazon Prime, so be sure you are aware of this. It requires a different app and works much differently. Disney also handles it differently. If you order through Amazon Prime, you will get charged a service charge from Disney for handling your delivery. But if you use Prime Now (at least as of now), you will not be charged a fee from Disney. This is a great option for grocery delivery that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, doesn’t require any fees, and Disney approves it! So if you are a Prime member, I highly recommend looking into this and reading about my experience below.
